When we see Dynasty star Joan Collins, 76, out and about, having a good time like she is here in St Tropez with her husband Percy Gibson, we’re inspired by her zest. When Joan started out she was often compared to Elizabeth Taylor who was only a year older but already an established star. They looked a lot alike and to her chagrin, Joan was referred to as the “poor man’s Liz Taylor.” Elizabeth was always the bigger star, but now Joan has the last laugh. Liz never took care of herself – she didn’t exercise, and ate and drank everything in sight. She married eight times and landed in rehab more than once. Sadly, Liz’s self indulgence cost her plenty- she’s frail and in a wheelchair with minimal activity and Joan is still living it up. This could be a lesson to all.

Well, I am a devoted fan and I scrutinize every picture taken of her. Check out the British glossy magazines! A couple of years ago her pictures were usually retouched but not any more. During the past year she has “done” something to her face and looks gorgeus even in close ups.

Yes…even 10 years ago when I went to pick up old pool furniture at Liz’s house (for the now defunct store Star Wares on Main) Liz was a feeble old wreck, hiding behind a window upstairs peeking out at me…..You would have thought that she was 80!
