Did you ever wonder what happened to Ron Palillo, who played the smart student Arnold Horshack on Welcome Back, Kotter? Ironically, Ron is now a TEACHER at a charter school in West Palm Beach, Florida. After moving back to New York in the 90’s where he lectured and did off Broadway plays, Ron, now 60, was offered a job teaching 9th grade acting at the G-Star School of the Arts in Florida. He says it’s exactly the kind of progressive high school he would love to have gone to himself. The former sweathog is a big hit with the students.

RON WAS THE BEST OF THE BEST. HE WAS VERY CONSIDERATE TO TEACH OTHERS HOW TO GET INTO ACTING THE WAY HE DID. HE WAS A BRILLANT GUY WITH MANY TALENTS TO SHARE. HOWEVER THERE IS ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF STRESS IN A TEACHING JOB ESPECIALLY IN HIGHSCHOOL.

I HOPE THIS WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF RON’S HEART ATTACK THE STRESS OF TEACHING. ALONG WITH LIVING IN A VERY HOT HUMID CLIMATE LIKE FLORIDA IS. REST IN PEACE, RON

He’s doing something really worthwhile, gratifying, poor paying, but wonderful.
