Stroller

KOURTNEY IS THE PRACTICAL KARDASHIAN

They’re basically a family of billionaires, but unlike her sisters, Kourtney Kardashian knows the value of a buck. The new mom needed a baby stroller since it’s been years since she had an infant, but instead of splurging on a pricey designer one she borrowed a buggy from her younger sister Kylie Jenner. Granted, the borrowed stroller is a custom made one from Chrome Hearts, but even though she and her husband, Travis Barker could afford one of their own. (they can cost upwards of $50,000) practical Kourtney BORROWED Kylie’s and kept her money in the bank! My source adds that Kourtney is notorious among the family for being frugal, and hates wasting money on the extravagances the rest of her family seem to obsess over.

NORMAN REEDUS NEEDS A MAKEOVER

We have never really understood the appeal of Norman Reedus. Sure, he was a fashion model back in the 90’s, but he has this weird, flat, unwashed looking hair and grizzled face now. (He probably WOULD clean up nicely, but that doesn’t seem likely to happen.) In spite of that, The Walking Dead star has a successful career and attracts gorgeous women. Norman and his fiancé Diane Kruger (who’s quite a catch) have a two year old daughter and they were seen pushing an empty stroller around Soho today. Odd…

TIME FLIES: KATE HUDSON AND HER SON RYDER

It’s the end of the year – time for a little reminiscing. We remember when Kate Hudson had her first child Ryder – with her first husband musician Chris Robinson. When Ryder was a toddler Kate used to push him all over New York in a stroller and we made fun of her because he was perfectly capable of walking, and in fact growing too lanky for the stroller. We thought he should WALK, not be pushed around on wheels. She was not happy and many of her young mother fans complained to me that a stroller was an easy way to move a child around. We still hate strollers, especially on crowded sidewalks and stores, but Ryder is now 16 and taller than his mom. They are such good friends that Kate says she looks forward to going to bars with him when he’s old enough, because he’s “so much fun.” Today they shopped together in Aspen.

ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY KEEPS SON JACK UNDER WRAPS

Okay, we confess we have a tiny fixation with the use of strollers. They are extremely annoying in crowded places like flea markets or large stores, and their pushers seem to feel they always have the right of way. We think that kids who CAN walk SHOULD walk – exercise is good. Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley didn’t let a little rain stop her when she took her son Jack Statham (dad is Fast & Furious actor Jason Statham) out for a stroll in London. Jack looks like he’d rather be walking, too, or maybe running…

JASON SCHWARTZMAN TAKES UP A LOT OF SPACE AT THE FARMER’S MARKET

We always knew Jason Schwartzman, 33, was a little eccentric- but totally lovable. He’s a husband and father now, but hasn’t changed much. We were mystified to see Jason at the farmer’s market pushing a double stroller full of purchases – and no children in sight. In fact, his kids, Marlowe, 8, and Una, 4, are way too old for a stroller. So we’re guessing that Jason uses their old stroller like a shopping basket for his fruits and vegetables…

KRISTIN CAVALLARI: CLEAR THE SIDEWALK! HERE I COME!

Here we go again: another rant about our pet peeve – STROLLERS! We often griped about Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba pushing their big kids around in strollers when they were more than capable of walking. Strollers in stores and on crowded sidewalks are a giant nuisance! Children should be allowed to walk and explore as they grow up. Mothers who don’t like the bother of keeping kids under control, strap them into giant wheelchairs instead of leaving them at home. Kristin Cavallari’s twin size vehicle is a huge inconvenience to people trying to navigate around her, and she seems quite oblivious.

MARK MCGRATH TAKES THE EASY WAY OUT

Sugar Ray singer Mark McGrath, 45, and his wife Carin are often seen at the Farmer’s market with their twins in their dual strollers. Why the former Extra host STILL has his cute 31/2 year old twins Lydon and Hartley on wheels instead of walking, is a mystery to us. We have this thing against lazy parents who find it easier to push their overage kids around (and inconvenience other shoppers) rather than encourage their children to walk. Nothing personal, just a pet peeve…

JESSICA ALBA AND OUR PET PEEVE: STROLLERS

#jessicaalba #janetcharlton

Here we go again. We have frequently pointed out how annoyed we get by the proliferation of strollers – especially in crowded shopping areas and heavily populated places. We think when a child is old enough to walk – he should be encouraged to walk and NOT pushed around in what is basically a wheelchair. Maybe the mother will have to work a tiny bit harder to keep track of the kid, but the exercise is good for the child and checking out his surroundings is a learning experience. Like Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba finds it easier to push her child instead of walking with her, and little Honor, 4, doesn’t look all that happy about it.

THE JASON PRIESTLEYS TAKE UP A LOT OF SPACE

This is exactly what drives us nuts at flea markets, farmer’s markets, and other crowded public places. Strollers are annoying and inconvenient enough, but DOUBLE strollers are unforgivable. A one kid limit would be fine with us. Jason Priestley and his wife Naomi appear to be having a good time with little Ava and Dashiell in spite of the irritated glances as the family takes up more than their share of space. It’s a good thing they’re cute.
