Steve Martin

ANOTHER MURDER IN THIS NEW YORK BUILDING

We have to admit we like the stars (Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short) of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building better than the actual story, but that’s enough to pull us back for another season. After a murder in their NY apartment building, the tenants get to know each other and join forces to solve the crime. There were funny moments in season 1, but the story seemed rather haphazard and the finale was puzzling. The producer promises that the new season of the comedy/mystery (it makes fun of TV crime shows) that just started filming, will tie up all the loose ends and satisfy viewers. The series is also drawing celebrity cameos- Amy Schumer and Shirley MacLaine, among others, are poking their noses into season 2.

STEVE MARTIN AND JANE LYNCH: WHO’S IMITATING WHO?

We were still in the process of obsessing over Only Murders in the Building, the new Hulu comedy/mystery series currently filming in New York, when Steve Martin posted this photo of himself and Jane Lynch dressed oddly alike on set. The plot thickens… We couldn’t figure out where she fits into the picture – she’s not mentioned in the cast which includes Steve, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. They star in the 10 part series about three strangers obsessed with true crime who unite to solve a mystery in their building. Steve Martin co-wrote the script (he also co-wrote my favorite title: Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid) so anything can happen..we just can’t WAIT to see it!

STEVE MARTIN IS BACK AND HE’S A NOSEY NEIGHBOR

New Yorkers on the Upper West Side were abuzz yesterday because Steve Martin was filming on the street and he was highly visible – being the only person without a mask. Martin, 75, has no plans to retire – he co-wrote the script and stars his new Hulu comedy series, Only Murders in the Building, along with Martin Short and Selena Gomez. They play three residents of an apartment building who barely know each other – until there is a murder in the building. It turns out they are all obsessed with real-life crime, and they combine skills to find out what happened.

NO LONGER A WILD AND CRAZY GUY, STEVE MARTIN IS A DAD

Steve Martin, 71, never seemed particularly interested in kids so we were surprised when he became a father at 67! Steve married journalist Anne Stringfield, 44, in 2007 and they have a 4 year old daughter. Get this -NO ONE KNOWS HIS DAUGHTER’S NAME! Steve made a joke of it when his daughter was born – he wisecracked “We didn’t want to give her one of those weird Hollywood names so we named her Conquistador!” Of course that’s not her REAL name- that’s still a secret! Steve and Anne took their unidentified little girl to the petting zoo at the Farmer’s Market to see the baby goats.

STEVE MARTIN KNOWS HOW TO KEEP A SECRET

Steve Martin (winner of this year’s AFI Life Achievement Award) was seen out and about in New York with his wife Anne Stringfield and their almost three year old daughter- whose name is still UNKNOWN! Martin’s relationship and marriage to Anne was kept under wraps at the time – they’ve been married for 8 years now. Despite Martin’s public appearances and performances, he has managed to keep his daughter’s name a secret! After she was born, he joked about naming her “Conquistador” but never gave up her real name. She’s barely visible next to Anne in this photo.

EASY RIDER STEVE MARTIN STAYS IN TOUCH

He’s wearing the required helmet but Steve Martin might be breaking the law by talking on the phone while he’s riding his bike. The 68 year old “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” star has taken up bike riding to stay in shape. In July he was riding in Pennsylvania and lost his wallet – a good citizen returned it. Martin’s wife give birth to his first child – a daughter – seven months ago. He has yet to announce her name and joked that he called her “Conquistador” on the Letterman show.

A BIG FAT SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE REUNION!

Aha! The mystery of Steve Martin’s twitter photo from a few days ago is solved. Martin tweeted a picture of a group of Saturday Night Live old-timers, without explaining WHY they were reunited. It turns out they all guested on this week’s Justin Timberlake hosted SNL show. In case you missed it- the “5 Timers Club” sketch is one of their funniest.

STEVE MARTIN KNOWS WHERE SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE ALUMNI ARE NOW

#stevenmartin #janetcharlton

We’ve been fans of Saturday Night Live since day one, and Steve Martin was always an amazing host. He tweeted this photo today captioned, “Where are they now? Why, right here.” How all these SNL people happened to get together we don’t know, but we recognize everyone but the guy in the hat….

IF WE RAN THE OSCARS….

We have two major complaints about the Oscars. First of all, “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” and ”Hugo” had no business being nominated for Best Picture. “Extremely Loud” was ordinary, manipulative, and annoying. “Hugo” was totally rejected by its target audience -children— simply because kids don’t care about film preservation. (The movie made a paltry 69 million and cost close to 170 million to make.) Albert Nobbs and Jane Eyre should have been nominated for Best Picture. Nobbs was a highly original story about WOMEN and Jane Eyre (also about a WOMAN) was the best version of this story we’ve ever seen. Both were gorgeously photographed and technically superior. (Too many mature white male voters in the Academy, perhaps?) One more comment – Billy Crystal was not as entertaining as Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin...
