Madonna brought her well dressed four year old kids David and Mercy from New York to London in preparation for their visit to Malawi. We wonder how they feel about their visits to their birthplace. Their lives are so different now – Madonna evidently doesn’t want them to forget where they came from. We do like David’s little Mohawk haircut.
If Malawi officials really stick to their guns and refuse to allow Madonna to adopt Mercy James, it’s really a travesty and a crime against the little girl. (Mercy, above, is holding hands with Lourdes.) The welfare of this child should be considered first and bureaucracy and prejudices set aside. What chance does this child in an orphanage have if she remains in the poorest country in South Africa? It’s an AIDS ridden place where women have few rights, are routinely beaten by their husbands, and their life expectancy is 38. Regardless of what one thinks of Madonna, her children are well taken care of and educated. Give Mercy a chance for a life.

Madonna’s visit to Malawi is going to take a few days longer than expected because there are objections to her quick adoption of the four year old girl named Mercy that Madonna selected. Madonna brought her other kids Rocco, David, and Lourdes, along for the ride, and they are pictured above at the child care center in Malawi. Judging from the look on her face, this was not how Lourdes hoped to spend her Easter vacation. We never thought we’d see Madonna wearing a fanny pack!
