LIFE GOES ON AND ON FOR FRANKIE VALLI

Who would have guessed that Jon Hamm and Frankie Valli (The Four Seasons) had something in common? BOTH swore they had NO interest in getting married – and both of them DID this week! Frankie has already been married and divorced three times- he says that his constant touring and performing is what ended his marriages. Incredibly, he started back in 1962 when The Four Seasons song Sherry hit #1 on the charts – the diminutive singer (5’5″) has been working nonstop ever since. Frankie is 89 now and STILL touring – he’s singing at the Hard Rock Live in Las Vegas this week! After a 16 year friendship, he married marketing executive Jackie Jacobs, 60, in a no frills wedding in Las Vegas, while his song Can’t Take My Eyes off of You played and he sang along…

FRANKIE VALLI STILL WALKS LIKE A MAN

Yes, Frankie Valli, 82, and the Four Seasons are STILL touring and this weekend appeared at the London 02 Arena. We’ve always had a weakness for men who sing in falsetto and have seen his excellent show several times. The 5’5″ singer credits his long career to “clean living.” The Broadway smash Jersey Boys (based on Frankie’s life story) gave his career a big boost and he’s still taking advantage of opportunities.

“JERSEY BOYS” JUST BECAME ONE OF OUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE MOVIES!

Don’t count Clint Eastwood out! And don’t count Jersey Boys out either! We absolutely LOVED this movie! The story is fascinating – it is NOT a musical like the Broadway show, although music is a big part of it. Frankie Valli’s life story is surprisingly convoluted and identifiable. Director Clint made sure that every detail of the wardrobe, set decoration, hairstyles, locations etc are exactly right for the time and place. We always wondered why The Four Seasons had such a hard time getting along and now we know. It’s funny and it’s touching. If you ever loved a Frankie Valli song, give this movie a look! You won’t want it to end.

BIG GIRLS DO CRY, AND THEY ALSO WRITE BOOKS

Perfect timing. A book about Frankie Valli’s affair with a sixteen year old girl back in the 70’s called “Big Girls Do Cry” is being released hot on the heels of The Four Seasons movie “Jersey Boys.” Of course, the girls, the groupies, were a big part of the singers’ lives in the movie. But THIS is the dark side that the film doesn’t address. A woman named April Kirkwood wrote that she was a 16 year old virgin when Frankie, 39, took her to a Holiday Inn motel for the first night of an off and on romance that lasted 20 years. Kirkwood says she really loved him and thought he would marry her, but looking back, he treated her callously. He liked very young women because they were easy to control. So maybe Frankie wasn’t the great catch we all thought he was! (bottom photo, April today)
