CAITLYN JENNER: WHAT DOES GENDER REASSIGMENT HAVE TO DO WITH SPORTS?
What on earth did Caitlyn Jenner do to deserve an ESPY award? ESPY stands for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly. Is changing your sex considered a sports activity? Has the world gone MAD? It was gratifying to see the world champion US women’s soccer team onstage getting the attention they deserve. Apparently the ESPY producers feared the show would lack universal appeal or whatever, so they hauled in someone sure to attract curiosity (Jenner) followed by the sexy Kardashian/Jenner girls. (Above.) Remember, Jenner recently killed a woman and injured others due to inattentive driving. You’d think she’d want to keep a low profile. Jenner gave a nice speech but the honorable thing to do would have been to TURN DOWN the inappropriate award altogether.

This person is not deserving of this award. Lauren Hill should have won this award. Although she was dying from cancer she bravely kept on to get funding for the disease and scholarships for deserving students. Never once did she complain about her situation and asked why her. And then this person changed his sex and they jettisoned Lauren to get more ratings. Shame on ESPN and I hope Arthur’s family remove his name from this sham.

I have to agree Janet. I didn’t understand why he/she received the award either. And I think her comment about picking out a dress for the show being the hardest part took away from the transgenders’ plight. Just my opinion

What does cancer, or Parkinsons, or being imprisoned in Africa for 30 years, or AIDS (which is what the award’s namesake Arthur Ashe had) have to do with sports? Look back at previous honorees, most of whom were sports figures bravely facing a struggle of some kind… the amount of hate being directed at this particular one is really sad. She was once the world’s greatest athlete. That counts.
