ANN CURRY: DON’T LET US SEE YOU IN THAT HEAD SCARF AGAIN!

This morning we were greeted with the TV image of Ann Curry, whom we love, On the Today show interviewing Iranian dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and she was wearing a HEAD SCARF! Our blood started to boil. The somewhat soft content of the interview that was described as “too kind” – pointing out how hard the man works- was NOTHING compared to the humiliating and demeaning fact that Ann was forced to dress like a second class female citizen in that country. She is an American and should NOT have to bend to Muslim rituals while interviewing the preening Hitler of the Middle East. It was an insult to women everywhere. What would Gloria Steinem think? Please Anne, don’t put yourself in an inferior position like this again. You should receive equal treatment in an interview.

  1. We are you a peace loving equal rights religion.
Now all you women to the back of the fucking bus!
Oh goody it’s thursday tomorrow. We love our man boy love thursdays.

  2. What a stupid comment by JC. She would not have gotten in Iran much less the interview without the scarf. Same is true for most Arabic countries. Women cover their heads there. Nothing wrong about that.

Hillary probably covers her head while munching on many Muslim women. Ellen would be happy to cover her head to get a shot at Huma, too.

  3. Perhaps it was only a sign of respect for his cultural beliefs? It’s only a scarf, so let’s not start a war over it.

  4. Coulda been worse, like the full head coverage. At least Ann was wearing something fashionable, classic and tasteful.

  5. Let’s face it Janet. If she didn’t wear the scarf she would a.) lose the interview; or b.) lose her head. The choice to wear the scarf was obvious.

    Otherwise I agree.

  6. Wearing a head scarf in many Middle Eastern countries is a choice for Muslim women. It was a choice for Ann Curry as well. JC is over reacting to the scarf which diminishes her credibility on the entire issue of women’s rights in the Middle East. It’s unfortunate since there are some real issues of concern for woman around the world that don’t concern fashion.

  7. There’s No Way that JC wrote the above paragraph. The paragraph had to be written by someone with a seven grade intellect.

  8. The Hitler of Iran wants to wipe Israel off the map…..and NBC does a fluff piece on him….rolls eyes

  9. Damm it Strom!!!! Ditto!

The hitler of middle east?!!! The USA Corp is the hitler of the world.

Why don’t u go down there jc and be americAn in Iran.

  10. I’m with you Janet…that’s the problem with those Muslim Countries their treatment of women and other of other people that are not Muslim.

They have 0 respect for women and I wouldn’t have done the interview, if I had to wear that stupid, idiotic scarf.

Screw him..go interview someone that’s doing something good.

  11. Ann Curry is a terrible interviewer. I’m sure she’s a lovely person, but she should not be in the job she has.

  12. Here are some facts abouat Ann Curry.

    a) She is 1/2 Japanese
    b) Most of the Today show are convinced she is sweet on Matt Lauer.
    c) She is very ambitious and will do anything to get ahead and a raise/promotion.
    d) Her neighbors hate her because she has workers there constantly redoing her abode.
    e) Her soft very deep voice is irritating.
    f) When she gets through taking she wrinkles up her chin and it grows about 1/2 inch longer.
    g) She is a bleeding liberal witch.

  13. Ann Curry is the most annoying woman on TV. The syrupy voice, the way she pratically purrs when she asks those softball questions, blech. What NBC and viewers see in her is beyond me. And the scarf, who cares? It is sign of respect. Like wearing a black veil when dignitaries visit the Pope.

  14. I agree Jennifer…I can’t stand her…she makes my skin crawl. Hope she’s replaced soon.

  15. Nope Julie Chen is worse and she was happy to provide so much sex to Yiddish Les Moonves that he dumped his wife and made straight for the slant eyed Julie who soonbecame round eye. She did much more than Ann to get ahead and has much less talent….token Asians, token Indians, token Blacks, and token hispanics abound!

  16. even celebrities think they’re Jesus now?
…….have mercy God, AMERICANS AREN’T WISER!!

  17. She is smart and beautiful. I love her voice.

From March 2006 to March 2007, she traveled three times to Sudan to report on the violence and ethnic cleansing taking place in Darfur and Chad. While there, she provided in-depth reports focusing on the victims who have been caught in the deadly conflict in that region, and she also conducted exclusive interviews with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and Chadian President Idrsiss Deby. In July 2006, Curry reported on the Israel-Lebanon war, and she was one of the only American reporters to file stories on both sides of the conflict from Beruit and Northern Israel.”

  21. By Strom
“A scarf and veil would do wonders for Sam Ronson!”

WHY NOT ONE AROUND YOUR MOUTH AND ONE AROUND YOUR STICKY FINGERS SO YOU CAN’T TYPE YOUR HATE ON THIS SITE.

YOU HAVE TO BE RELATED TO JANET CHARLTON IN SOME WAY (IN A BIG BIG WAY).

  22. Casonia...In real life no one gets away with talking to me the way Chef Gordon Ramsay gets away talking to the people that are trying out for a job at Hells kitchen but it is all about kissing ass and taking verble abuse for a job but in real life every n says:

Respect the person choice of wear and if it make her feel good and makes her happy…That is the only thing that matters?

  23. Casonia...In real life no one gets away with talking to me the way Chef Gordon Ramsay gets away talking to the people that are trying out for a job at Hells kitchen but it is all about kissing ass and taking verble abuse for a job but in real life every n says:

It is part of her life and we need to respect and care about other peoples feelings and thoughts and the way they dress is something that gives them joy and it is respectful and it is part of there style and other people may love to wear the same hair dress and…It has been fashion and respect in there direction for years and we must gather understanding about other peoples way of life.

Matter of fact the Scarf really looks pretty on her and she feels relaxed and at ease and full of joy. She is happy and it makes her feel good and she looks good.

  26. strom— so it is okay for YOU YOU YOU YOU to say something but no one else?

  27. strom–why would you care who samatha ronson was? why would SHE bother YOU ???

  28. strom

    “IT’s not about posters!”

    — IF IT IS NOT ABOUT THE POSTERS THEN ASK JC TO TURN THE COMMENT SECTION OFF. SHE WILL HAVE VERY LITTLE TRAFFIC TO HER WEBSITE THEN. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT STROM?

  29. Casonia..Verble abuse is a shock to people and on Hells kitchen it all Boils down to a job and being able to listen to some one call you out of your name if you screw up! Words may hurt but the job is good? On Hells kitchen says:

Listen Strom it is okay to speak your mind and say what you have to say and..I am not knocking you. Religion is there form and it is the way woman have been dressing there for 100s of years and woman are looked at as 2nd class in that state and it is an Honor she was able to get the chance to interview this person…. She made History and as a woman made her self a role model for woman there in that state.

  30. Casonia..Verble abuse is a shock to people and on Hells kitchen it all Boils down to a job and being able to listen to some one call you out of your name if you screw up! Words may hurt but the job is good? On Hells kitchen says:

Dear Strom have you ever seen that Movie Not without my daughter with Sally Fields…Woman are treated badly and have no control over there life and there body and yes they are treated badly and not looked at…As a man is looked at and that is with deep respect and feelings.

  31. Casonia..Verble abuse is a shock to people and on Hells kitchen it all Boils down to a job and being able to listen to some one call you out of your name if you screw up! Words may hurt but the job is good? On Hells kitchen says:

If she did not do one simple request then she would had never had the interview with this man and it is all about how this people feel about woman and how they often want to hold some one down. It is an unfair state and… Treat woman like they are slaves and or worst but she got the respect and she got a chance to put all her cards on the table.

  32. casonia – i saw that movie a few years ago. i don’t see how that woman and child got out alive.

  33. I’s not about posters……which means make all the comments you want on the thread but no one cares about yor own posters life or lack of it!

    Get over it!

  34. STROM—“I’s not about posters……which means make all the comments you want on the thread but no one cares about yor own posters life or lack of it!”

WHO SAID THE ANYONE CARED? WHO ARE YOU JEALOUS OF? HOW INTERESTING.

IF IT IS NOT ABOUT THE POSTERS THEN WHY DO YOU YOU YOU ALWAYS ALWAYS COMMENT ON WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY OR DO?

YOU YOU YOU NEED TO GET OVER IT AND SHUT UP ABOUT IT. YOU DON’T ALWAYS HAVE TO BUT IN TO PEOPLE’S COMMENTS AND CONVERSATIONS!

BESIDES YOU ARE JUST ILL BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT LIKED ON THIS BOARD BECAUSE YOU ARE MEAN. I AM NOT LIKED EITHER BUT I DON’T CARE AND YOU DO CARE! YOU JUST WON’T ADMIT IT! LOL

  35. Casonia..Verble abuse is a shock to people and on Hells kitchen it all Boils down to a job and being able to listen to some one call you out of your name if you screw up! Words may hurt but the job is good? On Hells kitchen says:

The movie was based on a true story and this woman made it out alive and well and what that movie teaches us that moving to that state is a trap and that your are going to be made a slave if you go there with your husband. Rat trap in motion but you should get the real story from the real person who went throw this and matter of fact the woman was featured on 20/20?

  36. Casonia..Verble abuse is a shock to people and on Hells kitchen it all Boils down to a job and being able to listen to some one call you out of your name if you screw up! Words may hurt but the job is good? On Hells kitchen says:

Dear Strom, Freedom of speech and every one has a right to say what they want and feel the way they want to feel about issues and… I get on your nerves and bother you some kind of way and…I wonder what is your sign and what is crawling up your arm..Why should you give a Rats Butt about what people say and… WHY DOES IT BOTHER YOU AND WHY DO YOU CARE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER?

  37. Now compare Ann’s softball interview with Ahmadinejad (who admittedly wants every Jew dead) to any interview with a conservative. Ahmadinejad has joked about having gays literally killed and she ignores it, but admonishes Sarah Palin for using harsh rhetoric like “targeting” a Congressman for defeat in elections. Ann is just another in the long line of NBC cronies who treat political opponents as the true enemies while treating true evil with respect. The only silver lining is that IF the world is ever taken over by a nut-job like Ahmadinejad, the press and nearly every liberal will be the very first political prisoners. They don’t understand that. They call any politician a homophobe for resisting gay marriage, but this man slaughters gays and it is ignored so that they can get the interview.

  38. Casonia..Verble abuse is a shock to people and on Hells kitchen it all Boils down to a job and being able to listen to some one call you out of your name if you screw up! Words may hurt but the job is good? On Hells kitchen says:

This group of men are ruthless and will kill a woman at the drop of a Hat and get very little jail time? Woman are treated like slaves and… Abused on so many levels and … Are not allowed to show there face to the world and doing this is ground breaking on so many levels… But there freedom is taking from a man as well and if he is gay or feels gay or acts gay his life is over and his whole family could be killed to save face.

  39. So what! I find it to be a sign of respect. Men wear those bra cups on their heads when they go to Jewish services……out of respect.

  40. it is a yarmulke/kippah :)…yes, it looks like something the late anna nicole would have used on one of hers.

  41. Casonia..Hells kitchen is hard to watch for many americans and people are not used to hearing that type of talk and it hurts there sweet little hearts..Elisa please mess up next week! Paul rise like cream to the top and blast there ass out of the sky? says:

When in Rome do what the Romans do. It is tradition and it is there way of life and it has been that way for years and years.

  42. Hear, hear, Janet! I was disgusted when I saw that. I can’t believe how stupid the women of my generation are, tossing away all the hard work of the baby boomers and previous gens of feminists so that we could have equal rights. Wearing a head veil, scarf, hijab, or whatthehellever on your head is demeaning and a symbol of a womans subservience. I wouldn’t even wear a wedding veil when I got married. Those of you who think this is no big deal need to spend some time on some serious womens rights blogs. Try looking up Phyllis Chesler for instance.

  43. Patrick/Strom

Why are you so bitter toward me? I have nothing to “get over”.

You sound just like Strom and Reta and Indy. Which is fine. At least Indy can be nice at times.

YOU get over it and STFU if you can’t be nice to me. It wouldn’t hurt you to be nice to Casonia too.

WHY DON’T YOU IGNORE ME AND I WILL HAPPILY IGNORE YOU AND YOUR MULTIPLE PERSONALITIES.

  44. There’s nothing wrong with her wearing that wrap. Have you ever heard of “when in Rome…”… She is respecting that country and culture whether Americans agree with it or not… She did the proper thing since she was over THERE. Now. If that interview took place in the USA I would agree with you… But you don’t go into another country and balk at their way of life or culture. The problem with Americans is we are allowing these other cultures to come over here and force their culture on our American way of life. We should not allow that way of dress here in the USA as it goes against our way of life here.
