SET ASIDE YOUR PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS AND SEE “THE SOCIAL NETWORK”
For some reason we were only mildly interested in seeing “The Social Network” and were lucky to be invited to a screening. What a surprise! This movie is a revelation and an inspiration to ALL generations -plus it emphasizes the importance of a great education. It moves along very quickly with a realistic and smart but plausible dialog, and entertaining characters. We didn’t realize that Facebook started at Harvard as an internet version of a yearbook and became an instant hit before it spread to other schools and the world. The students and characters in the movie compete to be the SMARTEST – not the best looking or the toughest. The movie is fun to watch and truly inspiring – it could happen to any of us. Eddie Murphy, shown here with his girlfriend Tracy Edmonds and Jesse Jackson, had an awkward moment last night at the Black Enterprise Top 50 Hollywood Power Brokers event at the Beverly Regent Hotel. It’s the first time Eddie and Tracy have been in the same room with her exhusband Babyface, who USED to be a close friend of Eddie’s! They’re not friendly since Eddie and Tracy hooked up. Other attendees watched with interest as the former buddies reportedly stayed in different corners of the large ballroom at the event, but were very conscious of each other all night.
