Not many women can turn on the glam in a mere trench coat, but Dita Von Teese can. She’s probably the most famous burlesque dancer in the world, but also one of the Best Dressed. Dita loves exquisite designer and vintage fashion – she turned TWO of the bedrooms in her Los Feliz house (the one that stripping built) into closets. Besides dancing, she has multiple deals designing lingerie, clothing, etc. And she’s a self-made woman. This little blonde girl from a Michigan farm has come a long way…

DITA VON TEESE KNOWS HOW TO TRAVEL IN STYLE

No wonder the paparazzi are falling all over each other to get a shot of Dita Von Teese arriving at LAX from London – she always travels like it’s 1965. Passengers used to dress UP to travel and if they looked really spiffy, they were often bumped up to first class when there were empty seats. You’ll never catch Dita traveling in sweats like most celebrities – she always looks like a runway model. (We love that designer trench coat – Galliano?) Dita has a series of burlesque performances scheduled in Los Angeles and San Francisco for the next few weeks. Her shows are delightful – highly recommended.

Charles Phoenix Dita Von Teese Las Vegas Rockabilly

VIVA LAS VEGAS ROCKABILLY WEEKEND IS THE ANTI-COACHELLA

Don’t tell me you missed another Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend! It was last weekend and the town was loaded with greasers and women with pompadors, tattoos, pinup girls, hot rods, achingly beautiful custom vintage cars, along with plenty of music and dancing. (Coincidentally or not, the same weekend as Coachella.) Dita Von Teese is a regular, and sometimes she brings one of HER vintage cars. (She usually manages to turn up at Coachella, also.) Our sartorially blessed friend Charles Phoenix entertains the crowd with his classic Vegas slideshows. Every year this event gets bigger and hotter.

DITA VON TEESE IS THE ANTI-KARDASHIAN

The entire Kardashian family could use some charm, poise, and fashion lessons from Dita Von Teese. Some make-up lessons too. We are consistently amazed by Dita’s reliable good taste. Whether she’s at the supermarket (yes, we’ve bumped into her there) or leaving her hotel in New York, (above) she is tastefully attired. We have NEVER seen her in spandex and wardrobe malfunctions just don’t happen to her! Her hair is her own, and she does it herself. Her makeup is perfect without that Kardashian heavy shading, absurd eyelashes, and puffed up lips. Dita never disappoints.

DITA VON TEESE: ONCE UPON A TIME PEOPLE DRESSED UP WHEN THEY TRAVELED

This passenger should be bumped up to First Class immediately! Dita Von Teese arrived at Lax looking WAY better than most passengers, who favor sweats and big sneakers. Her summer frock is cool and comfortable and she’s wearing flat shoes. This is how people USED to look at airports back in the 60’s. Of course, the flights were a whole lot more comfortable and civilized in those days.

GLAMMED UP BRITNEY SPEARS HAS NEVER LOOKED BETTER

Britney Spears is hoping the latest designs from lingerie collection will give Dita Von Teese’s lingerie some competition. Her spring and summer 2015 collection has more black lace and garters. Actually since Britney’s lingerie is less expensive than Dita’s sophisticated vintage-inspired undies, more of her fans can afford to splurge. So naturally she can outsell Dita in terms of quantity. Birthday Dita Von Teese Kate Pierson's Airstream Trailer Park

DITA VON TEESE IN A TRAILER PARK? YOU BET!

Where does the elegant dancer/designer Dita Von Teese celebrate her birthday? Maxim’s in Paris? Nope. Dita spent her birthday weekend in an Airstream trailer courtesy of Kate Pierson of the B-52’s! Kate happens to have an Airstream trailer park in the high desert in Landers, California, and all the trailers are decorated with mid century modern themes like “Tiki” or “Planet Air.” Rates are $200 per night. Dita and her friends rented several trailers and camped out in the beautiful desert for the weekend. Dita was reportedly fully made up and appropriately vintage attired the entire time.

Burlesque Dita Von Teese Spain

DON’T CALL DITA VON TEESE A STRIPPER!

You’d have to call Dita Von Teese’s style “classic vintage.” Dita is immaculately groomed as she arrives at LAX to catch a flight to Spain. For the first time, she is performing her burlesque act there. Some people (mostly guys) have incorrectly called her a “stripper,” but if you’ve ever seen her act, it is FAR from that. Her music is carefully chosen, and of course her costumes – including the skimpy ones – are exquisite. Last time we saw her, she included ballet dancing in her act. It’s sexy and playful, but not the least bit offensive.
