I happened in 1997: Ellen Degeneres has learned that "coming out" can be dangerous for your health! When she taped the first half of the infamous "Ellen" episode where her character she admits she's gay, the studio got a bomb threat! Police came in yelling "Everybody out NOW!" and the Disney soundstage had to be immediately evacuated. Ellen and Laura Dern, who guested as her love interest, were swept into waiting cars and the audience and everyone else was herded outside while firetrucks and police with bomb sniffing dogs arrived. When the second star studded show taped security was "tighter than a leather girdle" ‑ every door was carefully guarded and each person wore an ID wristband. Dogs sniffed out the whole stage BEFORE the show started. Guests including Oprah, Demi Moore, Dwight Yoakum, Billy Bob Thornton, KD Lang, Gina Gershon, Melissa Etheridge, etc survived to celebrate Ellen's "outing" later at a party at the Hollywood Athletic club.
