A 2001 Hollywood Whodunit: This young man comes from Hollywood royalty - both parents are famous and talented. He's gay but his family learned to accept his sexuality. But they'd never approve of his foolish and risky behavior if they knew what he's been up to. He frequents a West Hollywood supermarket popular with gay men and cruises the aisles looking for quickies. Several times a week he visits the store and scores almost every time, using the store's bathroom for his sexual adventures. Employees know what he's up to, but since his family owns stock in the chain, they're afraid to do anything about it.

Also in 2001 - it looked like Wacko Jacko has a wacko plastic surgeon! The man responsible for most of Michael Jackson's cosmetic procedures, Steven Hoefflin, has published a book claiming that he can reverse paralysis and Alzheimers with the help of family and friends of the victim. The ghoulish book cover features Hoefflin holding a human brain in his hand. The doctor paid to publish the book himself and he's shopping around for a publisher. We can't help but wonder if Michael's degenerating nose might cause people to regard the book with suspicion.

While Michael Jackson claims conspiracy in the news, it came out in 2001 that not everything was as it seemed with Michael either. Surely you've noticed those stubbly bristles on Michael Jackson's chin in recent photos. Well, they didn't come easy. Michael had those hairs TRANSPLANTED to his chin they same way people have hairs transplanted to their heads. Amazing, but true! It seems that Michael had his facial whiskers permanently removed by electrolysis years ago and when his taste changed and he wanted facial hair, he couldn't produce it. So he had to have it surgically implanted!

In March 1998, while Brad Pitt was schlepping home six cases of architectural books that he picked up at the Antiquarian International Book Fair in Los Angeles, and Burt Reynolds was out to recapture his sex symbol status by again posing nude for Cosmopolitan, OJ Simpson was toying with the idea of a singing career. He pressured his pal Dionne Warwick to help him get started in the music biz...

In 2002 screening of "White Oleander" at a Westwood theater, a woman cried out in the dark audience "Help me! I need help!"  There were only 25 or 30 people in the small theater and several men ran to her aid. The first on the scene was Tom Hanks who ascertained that the woman felt faint and had collapsed. After he made sure paramedics were on their way, he stayed and kept the woman calm until she was taken away on a stretcher. Tom returned to his seat to explain everything to his waiting wife Rita. The theater manager apologized for the interruption and before he started the movie again he handed everyone free movie passes - including the Hanks'.

1999: Ricky Martin is happy with his success but craving a little freedom. He's been going out in Los angeles disguised as a bum! Ricky wears a long shaggy blonde wig, raggedy clothes, and Gilligan style hat and big sunglasses. His getup is so convincing he had a hard time getting past the doorman when he tried to visit a friend in a West hollywood highrise. The security guard thought he was a homeless person and refused to buzz him in.

1999, Sylvester Stallone made a new best friend - a five thousand dollar rare tiny dog. Sly splurged on a brand new breed called a Munchkin and he's so smitten the he-man carries it everywhere. The three pound pup got sick on the set of "Get Carter" and Sly was distraught until the delicate dog recovered. Now Sly has a vet on call.

Valentine's Day in 2003 Britney Spears got the Valentine gift that keeps on giving - PAIN. Brit treated herself and some galpals to piercings for Valentines day and her pierced nipple is taking it's time to heal. A braless Britney wandered into Urban Outiftters on Melrose and she tried on a number of outfits, giving salegirls a glimpse of her 20-gauge piercing. When she pulled a top over her head, Britney winced in pain. The piercing she was so proud of was still tender. The high price of beauty.

Some might recall the 2001 moment when Heath Ledger, the new Batman, was 22 and single, having another fling with actress and torch singer Lisa Zane. Lisa met Heath a few years back when they were both filming in Australia and they had a mad fling, although he was nearly fifteen years younger than she was. It was enough to end Lisa's relationship with Michael DesBarres. Heath adores older women but at the time Lisa feared he was too young for her and after awhile she broke it off. Once he was more mature and established, Lisa let him know she's interested again and he was been a regular visitor at her Beverly Hills home.

Back in 2004, servers at the Spyder club in LA got hip to Lindsay Lohan's tricks. The 18 year old actress would occupy a table with her boyfriend Wilmer Valderamma and she knew the waitresses wouldn't serve her alcohol so she made a big deal out of ordering a soft drink. But the naughty actress has been known to sidle up to the bar and try to sweet talk the bartender into slipping her a cocktail - but no luck. When club employees noticed Lindsay's friends ordering vodka tonics at the bar and "leaving" them on Lindsay's table, they nipped it in the bud and put an end to the drink sneakers.

London Airport, 2001: Tara Reid was not thrilled to find herself stuck in a London airport for 12 hours on her way to Paris to promote American Pie II. But things brightened up considerably when she discovered cutie pie Heath ledger was in the same boat. They commiserated and got to know each other during the long wait. By the time they got to Paris and checked into the same hotel, obervers say they were "all over each other." For three days both of them were mysteriously oncognito. Well, why not- they're both single aren't they?

Filed Under: Remember When?     >   Cults > Whodunit

In 1997 this talented actress paid her household staff handsomely, but they always wound up walking out in a hurry! The reason: her obsession with a cult! Since her Hollywood friends are few and far between her efforts to recruit new members are directed at her employees. Her maid, cook, and assistants, were her captive audience and she brainwashed them for hours on end to join her group. During one dinner party for fellow cult members the chef walked OUT even before the first course was served - he just couldn't take her propanganda any longer!
