clay04.jpg How come no one is talking about the fact that Rosie O"Donnell blatantly OUTED Clay Aiken? Poor Kelly Ripa is being chastized for her perfectly normal reaction to Clay clamping his hand over her mouth to jokingly "shut her up" on her own TV show. No female TV host WE know of would be okay having a guest clamp his paw over her mouth and having her lipstick smeared on live TV. Granted, Aiken meant no harm - it was just rather tasteless, and Kelly's gripes about "where his hands have been " are perfectly normal. But Rosie's take on the incident - that Kelly's protest was homophobic - is laughable. In calling the incident "homophobic," Rosie carelessly (or deliberately?) OUTED Clay Aiken, who has made it clear he wants to keep his sexuality private. WE bet Clay is VERY upset with Rosie for making an issue of this, and wishes it would go away.

Rosie didn't out Clay Aiken. Stories about Clay have been going around for months. That is what Rosie based her comment on.
The only person that can out
Clay is Clay. Otherwise it is just gossip.

I guess you haven't seen the
photos going around of Kelly with her hand over
Regis' mouth. What a hypocrite!

Oh, please. You'd have to be deaf, dumb, and blind not to know that he's gay. Good grief! He comes on my tv screen and my gaydar goes off the scale!

Anonymous

Come on Janet! Everyone knows Clay Aiken is gay! This guy is so stereotypically gay and that is why no one thought twice after Rosie "outed" him.

Now it was obnoxious that Clay covered Kelly Ripa's mouth, but she was very rude to him earlier on the show, and she wouldn't let him talk during the ineterview with the "Dancing with the Stars" guests. Kelly is way too full of herself and she's nothing special.

tasteless? yes, would i want him or ANYONE touching my face or mouth? absolutely not, should rosie keep her fat mouth shut and stop butting into other peoples business....YES!

Rosie's as entitled to her opinion just like the rest of us.

I don't think that Kelly was being homophobic; but you have to admit, after seeing her shove her fingers down her throat and then plastering them all over Regis' face, she really looks like a bit of an ass for her remarks to Clay.

Granted, Clay is on the last bit of his 15 minutes of fame, but Kelly's isn't much longer.

I had the same thoughta, Janet.

Miss ODonnell was firmly entrenched in the closet before finally coming out.
Let me put it this way, ODonnell was all but FORCED to come out of the closet and she was bitter about the experience.
She is no postion to out anyone or preach out closeted peeps.

PS. Even Stevie Wonder can see Clay Aiken is g-a-y.

WTF is there to discuss?

An open and shut case!

Rosie is oversensitive on being a gay supporter. If gays feel that being gay is not sexual but a lifestyle, why did she go right for a "sexual" innuendo. (He could've been touching himself too.) She had the dirty mind. Yes, Kelly monopolized the interviews; but it's her show. But Clay is also immature and new to celebrity. Kelly can put her hand over Regis' mouth because they have a long-standing close relationship. Though two wrongs don't make a right, Rosie Gay posturing might be the downfall of The View.

The true star of AMerican Idol is of course

CONSTANTINE MAROULIS

why do gay people act so rightous all the time? rosie is an idiot for making a big deal out of it..the reason kelly ripa said what she did had nothing to do about him being gay...rosie publicly accused him of being gay i think thats a lot worse then what kelly did? doesnt everyone else? rosie is a ugly fat cunt and she shouldnt be on the view..shes talks too much shit all the time and tries to take the spotlight from the others ladies..she needs to get kicked off just like star..

I don't think Clay meant any harm when he put his hand over Kelly's mouth. She can be too chatty at times; she loves the camera! I think Kelly dislikes people stealing her thunder, and that is why she complained. This whole thing has been blown out of proportion and I also agree that Rosie was out of line to say what she did.

Quote: "Lets forget about it" What??

Pass that message along to Kelly. She was the one that kept harping on about Clay to Regis. Kelly also tried to bring the audience members into it. When that didn't work, she said that
numerous people called her. Than she said the Howard Stern show called her. Kelly
was trying to bring everyone else into it so good for Rosie for speaking up. Rosie tells it like it is.

Kelly handled the situation very poorly. When Clay put his hand over her mouth she should have responded with something like "please don't do that again". That would have been the end of it. But no, it's all about Kelly to Kelly.

The photos proved that Kelly's excuse was BS. Now
she has egg on her face.

His sexuality at this point is irrelevent. I'd get my knickers in a twist if someone put their had over my mouth - and no - you don't know where aybody's had has been. Do they wash after using the restroom? What doorknobs or computers have they touched... etc.

I think it speaks volumes to the chip Rosie has on her shoulder.

Anonymous

Kelly has done this to Regis on several occasions -- it's part of her schtick!

So, Clay doing it wasn't just out of the blue.

And because Kelly doing it to others was a "thing" then her comment about where Aiken's hand had been is actually bitchy and homophobic.

If you know the context of the hand thing, then her comment takes on a different tone.

Alan Moorman

what about the fact that Rosie outed Clay as... NOT A CUTE MAN... this must really hit the Clayman's huge, huge ego

tim d

you all haven't seen the video's of MANY OTHER MEN PUTTING THEIR HANDS OVER KELLY'S MOUTH yet she made no comment when Simon Cowell or Regis did it.

She's a HOMOPHOBE because her being offended is more about him than having someone's hand on her mouthl

k

I blame Barbara Walters for giving Rosie a national stage to spew her self-serving garbage on. Wasn't life better when she was out of the spotlight?

And yeah - settle down Kelly -she seems pretty full of herself.

Anonymous

I agree with Rosie. I think the situation did have overtones of homophobia...

Atia

Maybe it was more of the "you're not a big enough star to do that to me" type of reaction instead of homophobic. Her fakeness is so transparent.

The show is called "Regis and Kelly" not "Clay and Kelly". He was a GUEST host on HER show. Would you be a guest in someone's home and cover their mouth in essence saying "shut up" in their own home? IF you had any class I doubt seriously you would do that.

To those who say Kelly is a hypocrite for doing the same thing to Regis. Remember they are a "team" on that show, it's their "home" turf. Again like a couple in their own home it's their business but a GUEST does NOT have the same rights.

Anonymous

"Remember they are a "team" on that show, it's their "home" turf."

LOL Let's see how she reacts when he licks his fingers and wipes them on her face.

She's at best a d-list actress who managed to land a co-hosting gig where all she has to do is be cute and perky. She's all style and no substance, but congrats to her for making the bucks off of it.

Anonymous

Remember that Clay was the CO-HOST on that show! Not just a guest!

Sheesh!

alan

Rosie said during that conversation or after it that Clay was a good friend of her's. She certainly then would know if he was gay and her remarks about "homophobic" did OUT him if you want to put it that way. Roise is a jerk, so is Kelly!

Anonymous

Totally agree, Anon 8:21.

ROSIE IS A REPULSIVE - MILITANT GAY - BITCH WHO IS CONSTANTLY IN EVERYONE'S FACE ABOUT HOW FREAKING GAY SHE IS - LIKE WE CARE! SHE IS OBNOXIOUS AND DISGUSTING.

Anonymous

Rosie is too busy "being gay" and needs to get a clue. NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR HER STUPID RANTS!

Anonymous

And NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR STUPID KELLY EITHER!

Clay has handled it like a man--REGARDLESS of his sexual preference! Meanwhile, Kelly Ripa has acted extremely juvenile...

Anon

Rosie was right and Kelly is lying. Simon Cowell put his hand over her mouth and all she did was laugh and if you don't believe me...go to youtube and watch all the different times she didn't to other people and co-hosts did it to her.

Kely Ripa hates Clay

When people say things like, "I don't know where your hand (or fingers, or any other extremity) has been," it usually has a sexual connotation about it. It could be you were handling yourself, or someone else. The implication is there. However, that being said, it is also very easy for Kelly Ripa to deny that's what she meant, and only she can know for sure. Maybe a sexual connotation was the farthest thing from her mind. The bottom line is Rosie needs to jump down off her high horse and quit making "gay issues" where none exist. Also, the fact that she "outed" Clay Aiken is a joke. Clay Aiken didn't need anyone to out him. The guy is so clearly gay and the fact that he won't deny it ought to make it clear to everyone else. 'Nuff said!!

Anonymous

She DID out him when she said to Kelly R. "if that was a straight man....." referring to Clay. Poor Clay, if he wants his sexuality to be his business and not public business, he is right in doing so!

Mrs. Sadam Hussein

The true loser here is Kelly R. With a name like "kelly" what do you expect other than a giggling idiot.

Look, Kelly & Rosie BOTH handled things poorly. In fact, I can't stand either one of them.

Anonymous

Rosie needs to get off of her gay high horse and just shut the hell up. I am sick and tired of her rants on The View, and she thinks it is OK to speak badly about President Bush and every other Republican, but if any one says one negative thing about a Democrat and her precious Barbara Streisand, goodness gracious, that person is a bigot, homophobic, racist and probably a member of the KKK. Rosie - enjoy this season of The View, because it probably is going to be your last.

Upset about the elections are you?

Kelly Ripa is a pez dispenser shot up with enough botox to kill a horse,or even rosie.I cant stand the sight of that yapping botoxed pin head.Everytime that commercial comes on with her and her douch bag husband its all i can do from barfing like kelly after a meal.Enough of ripa and her sour rotten face,I wish rosie would sit on her and put her out of our misery. And as for Gaykin,Hi Mary.

Hedda Bopper

Rosie was wrong, wrong, wrong. I'm already sick of her on The View. She needs to go keep Star company - wherever she is. Shame on Barbara Walters for adding this loud mouth to The View.

Rosie O'Donnell IS the downfall of the view

Anonymous

I don't see where Gaykin gets off thinking he should be talking. It wasn't his show. His career was basicly over when he walked off the Idol stage.

Anonymous

I would have knocked him right over backwards if he put his hand over my mouth

Rosie sure isn't much of a friend if she outed Clay without his permission.

Ro-Ro is the biggest baby on the planet.
For years, I screamed at the TV, "Come out-ah-de closet, Ro-Ro!" But Ro-Ro wouldn't admit that she was gay until the rest of the world came out.
NOW, Ro-Ro thinks that she's the mouthpiece of homosexuality!
RO-RO!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!
(Aside from Bah-bo the Devil)

It really is a pity that "The View" has become "Rosie's Gay View." I cannot fathom WHY Barbara Walters brought her on. The discomfort that the other co-hosts feel is palpable and makes the viewing audience, myself included, squirm. Rosie is a big, annoying GAYGAYGAY Woman, as she constantly let's EVERYONE know (so obvious anyway). Please, someone, at least show her how to sit like a lady.....gosh, she simply disgusts me.

Jeep

Are you kidding me...EVERYONE is talking about how Rosie outed Clay. At least in the blogosphere. If you're expecting the clods on TV to report this, you'll have to wait until someone reads a blog posting to them.

Stating the obvious since 1963

Kelly Ripa is even more annoying than that ridiculous witch she replaced. I can't believe anyone can stand to watch her do anything. GAG! Since you're such a diehard fan, JC, what do you think about her licking her fingers and shoving them in Regis' face, by the way? I guess that was just her being CUTE.

rip on ripa 4eva

Rosie should realize that everything is NOT always homophobic. She does, however, have the right to express her opinion but damn she feels it necessary to let everyone know her thoughts about everything. The only way anyone would know how she feels is becasue she happens to be a friend of BA BA Walters and has hositng duties on THE VIEW. Frankly, my dear Rosie, no ones gives a rats behind what you think.

Txsugr

Shut Rosie up...She did out Clay by saying whatt she did is wrong. And so what if she put her hand on Regis IT"S hthere show. Never has another woman have the face covered. And Clay was a real lousy host.

corky

Rosie is a very angry woman. She needs to shut up, take a long hot bath, have a cup of camomile tea, take a prozac, and just chill. She is to violent.

So what if he is gay. It doesn't change the fact that he is a very talented young man.

Rosie O’Donnell got it right! Two years ago, “Live with Regis and Kelly” televised a mean-spirited homophobic skit ridiculing Clay Aiken. Near the start of the show on Friday, November 17, 2006, Kelly aired only part of the skit video with Clay sitting right next to her as co-host. In the original homophobic “Halloween costume” skit, Kelly is dressed up as Clay and Regis is dressed up as Bo Bice. After Kelly does her karaoke of Clay’s hit song “Invisible” (the part of the tape she aired on Friday morning), Kelly, still dressed as Clay, proceeds to smother “Bo” with a face full of kisses. While Kelly’s quip about the whereabouts of Clay’s hand might be debatable, the homophobic “Halloween costume” skit confirms Rosie’s view. Two years ago, Kelly made it very clear that she perceived Clay to be gay.

Assigning homosexuality to someone who has denied he is gay constitutes homophobic behavior. I don’t believe that Rosie assigned homosexuality to Clay when she accused Kelly of making a homophobic statement. Even if Rosie had, it was too late because Kelly had already “outed” Clay two years earlier. Homophobia can be directed at individuals who are merely perceived to be gay. Kelly clearly assigned homosexuality to Clay when, in the “Halloween costume” skit, she portrayed Clay smothering another man’s face with kisses. That skit, in its entirety, was homophobic. Shame on Kelly and LWRK!

July 10, 2003, issue of Rolling Stone magazine...“One thing I’ve found of people in the public eye,” Aiken says, “either you’re a womanizer or you’ve got to be gay. Since I’m neither one of those, people are completely concerned about me.” October 2, 2006, issue of People magazine…“It doesn’t matter what I say. People are going to believe what they want.”

When Kelly slammed Clay, she unleashed videos and screen caps all over the internet and on TV of Kelly putting her hand(s) over Regis’ mouth on at least three separate occasions. I’ve seen a screen cap of Regis putting his hand over Kelly’s mouth. I read that another male guest put his hand over Kelly’s mouth, but he suffered no repercussions. Is this ALL they do on that show?

The events of November 17-21 and the “Halloween costume” skit come down to one rhetorical question: Is Kelly Ripa a homophobic hypocrite or a hypocritical homophobe?

host, co-host, guest, guest-host...doesn't make a damn bit of difference. Everyone needs to keep their nasty ass hands to themselves!!!!
