Our accomplished colleague Cindy Adams of the NY Post, detailed MORE of the reasons why Michael Jackson failed to appear on the Grammys to promote the 25th Anniversary of Thriller. Not only did Jackson demand a one-of-a-kind, once in a lifetime AWARD, but he wanted to select the A-list celebrity to present it to him. Of course he demanded special security and accommodations that would make all the other participants on the show feel cheated. He wanted the entire evening to be about and structured around HIM. Best of all, he wanted to be referred to as the King of Pop no less than THIRTY times on the show! The Grammy people backed off.

Amy Winehouse MUST be getting sober because she did something surprisingly thoughtful. She, like others in the UK, know how puritanical Americans can be. (Especially after her visa experience.) Keeping this in mind, she drew a little black bikini top on the large topless female tattoo on her arm so it wouldn't offend anyone watching her appearance on the Grammys! After the show, the makeshift top was washed off.

We actually started to forgive Kanye West for his arrogance and egocentricity after his mother died so tragically. His appearance on the Grammys changed all that good will. He used the memory of his mother to call MORE attention to himself and solicit pity. First he sang that melodramatic song dedicated to her, with all the James Brown theatrics, including angels floating in the sky. But that wasn't enough. Later, when he was making a long dull acceptance speech and the music started softly playing to hurry him up, he became outraged. Holier than thou Kanye started up again with a dedication to his mother to make himself look not like a blowhard, but a devastated son. Cheap manipulation.

We had to squirm through almost THREE hours of somnambulistic Alicia Keys and the like before Amy Winehouse finally appeared on the Grammys via satellite, but it was worth it. Best of all was her excitement when she realized she had won song of the year.

Cher surprised us with her voluminous copper colored wig at the Grammys- she's probably not as skinny as she'd like to be and that's why the hair was so big. Even more surprising was her voluptuous goth silver taffeta tiered skirt and chain mail distressed top from 80's designer Michael Schmidt. It wasn't her greatest fashion moment, but you have to admit she looked more like a rockstar than most of the people at the Grammys. We just wish she had sung the duet with Tina Turner instead of Beyonce.

Amy Winehouse took a break from rehab to personally put in her application for a US visa. A rehab employee and her father Mitch accompanied her on the mission. THAT means she is seriously considering coming to the Grammys - after all, she has around six nominations. Her advisors don't think it's a good idea and her drug history might present a problem, but it looks like Amy really WANTS to go. That changes everything, we'll definitely tune in if she's there.

We're hearing that egotistical hip hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs didn't go to the Grammys because he was given a seat in the 7th row and he thought he should have been seated in the first or second row. We dozed off during that stultifying song by The Police so we don't know if he ever showed up. He made it to all the parties, however.
