Who would have guessed that Bill Maher would have a soft spot for little dogs? We KNOW he'd slam on the brakes for a girl who looks like Traci Bingham of Baywatch, but the dog surprised us. Bill was walking out of The Newsroom Cafe on Robertson when this little fellow barked at him so Maher stopped to say hello. On second thought, maybe the dog's OWNER resembles Traci.

This dog is the reason Tatum O'Neal gives for going crack shopping. Her 16 year old beloved Scottish Terrier Lena (shown above in 2006) was sick with cancer and Tatum and her daughter had to have their dog put down. Devastation over the loss drove Tatum to seek solace in the streets. Are we the only ones who completely BELIEVE this excuse? We feel for her. What could be more agonizing? Give Tatum a break. And sign her up for Celebrity Rehab.
This picture of John Mayer holding Jennifer Aniston's dog's leash reveals a lot about their relationship because Jennifer is VERY fussy about who takes care of her dog. Her pooch Norman has been with Jen through thick and thin - that's numerous boyfriends and one husband, and he's the longest lasting male in her life. Jen must hold John in high esteem to trust him with Norman. The three of them flew from Miami to Orlando where Mayer performed, while Jen watched backstage.

Rachel Bilson is a sucker for a cute dog and so are we. Here she is devoting an afternoon to her rescued pup Thurman Merman. Rachel and a buddy took their dogs for canine beautification and then to a pet store for loads of treats.

Law & Order's Richard Belzer obviously doesn't mind having his picture taken. He was only too eager to pose with his little poodle/fox terrier mix dog named Bebe. He takes Bebe everywhere. We're not sure if Richard is showing off his velvet pants or his best friend but we know an adorable dog always gets paparazzi attention. Richard looks like he could be one of the Rolling Stones.

This is the photo that got Pamela Anderson into hot water with PETA. She is clearly eating a hot dog at her son's ball game. Since Pam makes a big deal out of being a vegetarian, it reflects badly on her commitment. Recently Pam refused to ACT in a scene with a dog because PETA doesn't believe live animals should be in movies. (Apparently they prefer humans to dress up as animals.) Needless to say, the director of her "Superhero Movie" was not thrilled. And Pam has been critical of other actors like Jason Alexander, who endorses KFC. So this hot dog IS a very big deal. PETA tried to defend Pam by claiming it was a tofu dog - but since when do they sell THOSE at kid's ball games? We wish Pam would find another animal rights group to support.

Elizabeth Taylor's friends rolled her wheelchair into The Abbey - a busy gay restaurant/bar in West Hollywood the other night. The older gay guys in the place were abuzz with excitement - a screen legend in their midst! Witnesses said she cuddled her white DOG and seemed "giddy" - she did a lot of giggling at the table. Several times she pulled out her jeweled compact and proceeded to touch up her makeup. She seemed "out of it," but her fans were delighted to see her. The next day she was reportedly spotted in the lobby of Cedars Sinai hospital - again with her DOG! How DOES she get away with it?

Gossip Girl Blake Lively was shooting the show at the Palace Hotel in NYC this week and as usual her adorable Malti-Poo Penny was with her every minute she wasn't on camera. Blake got her designer pup from the same breeder that provided Jessica Simpson and Rihanna with their cute dogs.

We admit we do complain about mothers pushing their toddlers in strollers instead of letting them walk, but we just LOVE this photo! Charlie Sheen's fiancée Brooke Mueller took her two pugs for a ride on Rodeo Drive. Apparently they get tired and can't keep up with her. She made sure her pets were safely seat belted into their little strollers.
Apparently Eminem's maternal grandma loves the Enquirer and and enjoys chatting with them about her grandson. She was responsible for the recent story about 5' 7" Eminem supposedly eating his way up to 200 pounds due to depression. We're betting he gave her a stern warning about THAT, but we think she's still talking because the Enquirer has a new scoop about him. Apparently he's been happily dating a 26 year old recording studio manager named Marni Bright, but they can't live together because he's freaked out by her dog! Marni has a rambunctious chow-pit bull mix and Eminem prefers the company of Chihuahua size dogs. How ironic - a street savvy rapper afraid of a fierce dog!

Adam Sandler rescued his bulldog Matzoball at the Santa Monica beach this week. The pooch left the sandy beach and romped into the water and Adam immediately ran in the water to scoop up his beloved pet. Not long ago Pink's bulldog drowned in her pool and it looks like the breed doesn't mix well with deep water. They seem to sink like a stone so Adam isn't taking any chances.
The Oscar people are frantically prepping the Governor's Ballroom for the celebrity studded ball after the Oscars. The ceiling fabric, the plants, the furniture are all in place. Staffers have daily meetings discussing EVERYTHING from earthquakes, to fires, to drunken actors, that could possibly go wrong and how to avoid or handle it. They don't want a repeat of the INCIDENT that happened last year! At the last minute the ballroom is always completely searched by bomb sniffing dogs. Last year one of the German Shepherds left a big pile of poop under a table! It wasn't discovered until the dinner had begun and guests seated at that table were NOT happy. It was a smelly mess. This year they hired people who are assigned to follow the bomb sniffers and make sure they don't leave any deposits!
