 Sandra Bernhard headlined the entertainment for the girls at the Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs. The audience loved her standup act but she was concerned because a few of her jokes fell flat and there were awkward silences. Backstage someone pointed out to Sandra that sometimes her sophisticated act was too hip for her audience. For example, the comic made a joke about Manolo Blahniks - "These women have no idea what those ARE!" And Sandra made a reference to Barneys that got no reaction because "these gals don't shop there - they're 'golf lesbians.'" Sandra also made fun of the lesbian series "The L Word" and nobody laughed. Why? "It's their FAVORITE show!"
