Christie's auctioned off James Brown's estate and his family wasn't thrilled with the results. Among the 317 items up for sale were Brown's fabulous wardrobe of jumpsuits, capes, and boots, along with his trophies, leather couches, and even his Walk of Fame star. Everything brought high prices but the total take was $857,688 - about half of what was expected. Our personal favorite item was brown's 1960's salon hair dryer. When we met him backstage at Chicago's Regal theater, he and his pink foam rollers were under that dryer. It went for $10,625.
On Friday, November 30, and Saturday, December 1, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne are auctioning off the furniture from the Beverly Hills house they sold to Christina Aguilera. Sharon must have rummaged through their closets and found a lot of stuff more suited to a garage sale than an auction. Among the items up for sale are two of Sharon's cancer wigs with a starting price of $500, a large collection of Aunt Jemima dolls starting at $50, Ozzie's old wire rim glasses for $2000, and Kelly's Barbie dolls for $400-600. Many items were listed as gifts from particular celebrities (Isn't that a little insulting?) If you have money to burn and can't make it to the Gibson Guitar Showroom in LA, check out the auction online live at auctionnetwork.com. Sharon says some of the proceeds will go to her colon cancer charity but she doesn't say how much.
