He may be Governor, but Arnold Schwarzenegger still likes to hang out at his longtime favorite places - like Cafe Roma in Beverly Hills. He hung out with Sylvester Stallone there last week. They were once rivals - highly competitive action heroes - and now they're friends. Keep in mind, Arnold is NOT supporting Proposition 8, which would ban gay marriage in California. He wants California to be a progressive state and a positive example for the rest of the country.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and a teenage son and daughter popped into Gelson's in Pacific Palisades on Sunday. The Governor pushed the shopping cart and told the kids which fruits to pick out. He wore loose khaki shorts and a golf shirt, plastic shoes, and looked "healthy and tan." When they finished shopping, Arnold sent the kids to the checkout line and he closely examined pastries in the Victor Benes bakery department. (This same pastry shop has proven to be Janet Jackson's downfall) Shoppers WERE surprised that there seemed to be absolutely no secret service bodyguards anywhere in sight.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger spent some quality time with his teenage daughter Christina at Barneys in Beverly Hills. Christina, who looks a lot like her mom Maria Shriver, loves the Co-op and the makeup department. Father and daughter had lunch and did some light shopping. We do have a hip governor - he and his family are often seen at Barneys.

Here's Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger strolling in Beverly Hills, - he has an eclectic group of friends, including Giuseppe "Born to be Wild" Franco, on the left. Does anyone remember Giuseppe's haircutting TV infomercials featuring him on a motorcycle? He's been doing Arnold's hair for at least 25 years. We have to admire Arnold, who has always been loyal to his old friends and associates, but we've never been overly fond of Giuseppe's hair coloring technique for men.

FLASHBACK: We came across this photo of bodybuilder/actor Arnold Schwarzenegger taken in Las Vegas in 1979 by Brad Elterman, and we couldn't RESIST sharing it with you. Arnold is obviously infatuated and playfully flirting with baby-faced Maria Shriver, who looks like she just got out of college. Little did they know then, that they'd end up Governor and First Lady of California.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger spent Father's Day with his two sons Christopher and Patrick. Recently he advised new immigrants in America to hasten assimilation by immersing themselves in the English language - that means not watching Spanish TV or reading Spanish newspapers. That's how HE did it when he moved here from Austria and didn't speak English. And it was the key to his success. The idea caused an uproar in the Spanish press, but we happen to think he's 100% right
Photo: Gary LewisHere's our handsome Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at a recent function with Maria and the kids. Two fun things to note about this photo- take a close look at Maria's shirt - is that Michelangelo with some artfully placed decoration - or is it a bodybuilder posing? Also, you can't miss Arnold's lookalike mini -me son hammily poking his head into the picture. SOMEBODY'S a chip off the old block.
